About the Tanjore Painting Workshop
Tanjore painting, also known as Thanjavur painting, is a traditional South Indian art form recognised for its rich colours, intricate ornamentation, raised detailing and use of gold.
In this special Krishna-themed workshop, participants will be guided through the process of creating their own Tanjore-style artwork. You will learn the fundamental techniques involved in building the artwork, adding ornamental details and creating the distinctive rich finish associated with Tanjore paintings.
This is a hands-on art experience, not simply a painting demonstration. You will work step by step with guidance throughout the process and create your own Krishna artwork.

Building detailed layers on elements such as the elephant.
Application of gold foil on the muck and borders.

Completing gold application and beginning to paint the background and key elements.

Cleaning gold areas, enhancing clarity, and adding finishing touches with drawing ink.
