Illuminating Perspectives: Aerial Views of Food in Light and Shadow

perspective

Excellent 8–10 year class. Starting the interesting classification of shadows and light we focus on the perspective from an aerial view. The challenge they had was to create a painting that was to show food placed on a table.Over time watch as the items on your canvas interact with light; they know the shade that they cast, and the way they change with difference sources of light.Students were able to explore what depth and dimension looks like from a top down approach through the use of an aerial view.t. Making a painting that depicts food on a table was the task. As children work, observe how the items on your canvas respond to light; they understand the shadows they produce and how they alter in response to various light sources.

Students were able to investigate how depth and dimension are represented from a top-down viewpoint by using an aerial view perspective. This will make one reconsider value composition because each piece on the table must be placed with an aim to enhancing the observed scene.
