Crafting with Sensory Group: Paper Cutting, Pasting, and Printing

In my opinion every child should be able to express their creativity whether god given skills or newly learned in art. We’ve just had an exceptionally interesting art lesson based on the idea which was developed for the children from the sensory group with the accent on the upgrading of the tactile perceiving and fine motor activity.

An example of a very basic yet effective craft exercise cutting and pasting paper. Children were encouraged to make an imprint of different shapes, lines and form work on the brightly coloured paper using the safety scissors. Also, this exercise gives them a live, sensory experience that they are able to touch the paper and glue, and there is an enhancement in hand-eye coordination too.

More precisely, their touch sense was most challenged by this particular type of printing activity. Since each material felt different, the children were able to feel a number of different textures with their hands. The particularly short response time was achieved as concerns presses, lifts and the finished print, which they found exciting and rewarding.
